2008 State Rally "Ghouls on Wheels"
| The 2008 state rally was held this past October at the Voyager RV park in Tucson. This park has large parking spaces as well as a spacious ballroom and kitchen facilities. The theme for this rally was “Ghouls on Wheels” as indicated by the excellent rally pin designed by our President, Don Stafford. Forty One rigs attended the rally which was very favorable compared to the number of rigs attending other state rallies in the Western region. |

| The weather was great this year and nearly half of the people arrived one day early. That eased the job for the Parkers who were stationed at the end of the entrance road. The remainder of the people arrived Thursday in time for the traditional potluck dinner and ice cream social where “good food” was served and “good friends” were reunited. |

Friday was relaxing with a craft class for the ladies and a caravan to the Pima Air Museum fora very interesting tour.
Preliminary beanbag baseball and snaketoss team events were held in the afternoon and were interrupted with interment
sprinkler showers. A “hobo” dinner consisting of both chili and stew was served Friday evening. Half of the door prizes and gift
certificates were awarded after dinner. The night ended with the popular game “Deal or No Deal Grand Canyon Winnie style” with emcee Ed (HOWIE) P. The mystery banker (John D) was secluded backstage and provided his offers via cell phone to the emcee. The highs and lows were that Jodie C won the grand prize of $100 by choosing suitcase 12 and sticking with it to the very end and Carolyn M ended up with $1.00 courtesy of our generous banker. |

| Saturday's events included a CPR class conducted by a member of the Tucson Fire Department. The instructor explained and demonstrated a new procedure that involves rapid compressions but no mouth-to-mouth breathing. Attendees were able to practice the procedure on models. |

Officers for 2009 were elected and installed by our Western area rep, Dan Harper. The officers are: Vice President: John Klatt Secretary: Merith Cowden Treasurer: Paula Stovall |

| Following a catered dinner supplied by the host park and sponsored by La Mesa RV, our Kingly President was the emcee for the Halloween "Ghouls on Wheels" costume contest. As you can see a number of people participated in the contest. |
| The winners were the Yesenkys and their friend for their outstanding costumes. Then it was time for entertainment and the Hartmans provided that with excellent country and western music. |

The evening was concluded with awards and raffles. John D presented the winners of the beanbag baseball
and snaketoss competition with trophies. Winning tickets for the raffle and 50/50 prizes concluded the festivities. A brown bag breakfast and formal closure of the rally concluded the rally on Sunday. Thanks to the Parkers, all the chapters officers and to everyone who volunteered to help make this rally a success. A special thanks to John D for providing these highlights of the festivities. Most of the attendees indicated that Voyager RV resort should be strongly considered for future rallies as it appears that the Wickenburg community center will not available in the future. |
