Arizona Sunbirds Fall 2010 Newsletter |
|
As we head into the southwest area’s Fall – Winter – Spring rally and campout season we welcome back all returning SUNBIRDS.
About half of those who fled the heat will be back in time for the September 16 – 19 outing at Orchard Ranch RV Park in Dewey, AZ.
Most of the remaining heat-fleeing SUNBIRDS will be back for the October 14 – 17 Arizona State Rally at Saddle Mountain RV Park in Tonopah, AZ.
The September outing in Dewey gives is a chance not only to finalize the SUNBIRD part of the State Rally but also to do much need planning
for the chapter’s November 18 – 21 outing and annual election meeting to be held at Quail Ridge RV Resort in Huachuca City, AZ. The following email was received from Pala & Art. “We are sorry to say that we will be cancelling our Sunbird membership. We have sold our motor home and will be staying at our home in Yuma from now on. We have truly enjoyed our years as Sunbirds and will miss the friends and good times.” It seems as if Paula and Art have been with the club forever. They’re a fun couple and will be missed. We wish both of them well. CURT B. In July, Curt had his right hip replaced. Currently he is finishing therapy and is now up and about – to a limited extent. He and Edie may be able to make the October State Rally. PAUL B. Earlier this year Paul had his right knee replaced. He’s made a good recovery. At that time his doctors discovered an aortic aneurysm and a partial blockage. Paul underwent surgery, in Lake Havasu City, for an aneurysm and blockage bypass on Wednesday, Sep. 1. While in surgery surgeons discovered a problem with one heart valve, which they also repaired at that time. Surgery lasted seven hours. As of Sunday (Sep. 5) Paul remains in an Intensive Care Unit. Arlene reports that he is doing well, that he has regained some of his humor but that he still has quite a bit of swelling and pain. Please keep both Paul and Arlene in your thoughts and prayers. Paul will be 80 in November. KEN G. Ken had a tumorous kidney removed in April. The cancer had not spread. Recent tests indicate that his remaining kidney is working fine and he is feeling great. Currently he and Jo are on their way to Minnesota to participate in the River Road Caravan. SKIP M. In February Skip had heart surgery. He convalesced at his home in Sun City this spring and he feels good. He and Alice made their annual trip to Iowa this summer. If anyone knows of a member who is ill, is having surgery or recently has had surgery or if they have experienced a death in the family we request that you let our Sunshine lady, Marilyn K., know. You can email the information to Marilyn at maklatt@gmail.com. She will send out the appropriate card, etc. |
